"Spice Up Your Days and Spice Down Your Nights for Healthy Aging" by Soomi Lee, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Human Development and Family Studies, Center for Healthy Aging, The Pennsylvania State University.

Sedentary lifestyles and poor sleep are two prevalent issues in late adulthood. In this talk, Dr. Soomi Lee will present a series of studies highlighting the benefits of staying active and involved in a variety of daily activities, as well as the importance of achieving good sleep at night. These studies draw on data collected across different time scales, including daily diaries and longitudinal data spanning multiple years. These studies also use national samples of midlife and older adults, which provides insights into how health risks may manifest throughout the aging process. This body of work advances conceptual and methodological approaches examining the relationships between lifestyle factors, sleep, and aging outcomes. At the end, Dr. Lee will share practical tips and strategies to enhance lifestyles and improve sleep health to promote healthy aging.
