Christina J. Diaz, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Rice
University. Her research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of
social demography, immigration, and family formation.
In her most recent work,
she examines whether—and to what extent—immigration-origin populations
influence social, cultural, and economic change in the U.S.
Dr. Diaz will talk about whether indigeneity and legal status interact to
uniquely influence health among Latin American workers. Her work has received
recognition from the American Sociological Association, the Population
Association of America, and the National Council for Family Relations. She is a
current Councilmember of the Population Section for the American Sociological
Association.
