EOH Research Seminar

Tuesday, November 28, 2023

3:30 PM-4:30 PM

Speaker: Tarik Benmarhniam, Associate Professor, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California San Diego

Fine particles (PM2.5) from wildfires smoke is potentially leading to several health impacts. In California, PM2.5 from smoke is expected to increase while other sources of PM2.5 may decrease. We will discuss different methodological approaches to understand how the health impacts related to wildfire smoke may be heterogeneous across communities and space through different case studies in California. We will also explore the environmental justice implications of wildfire smoke exposure and compounded impacts with extreme heat.
