This seminar series is part of the Drexel
Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation
(FIRST) Program, an NIH-funded
research initiative focused on fostering inclusive excellence in health
disparities research.
The goal of the seminar series is to provide a forum to discuss and debate
exciting work and ideas related to understanding the drivers of health
inequities and intervening to eliminate them.

Dr. Carolyn Fang,
Professor, Cancer Prevention and Control, Associate Director for Population
Science,
Fox Chase Cancer Center, Temple Health
Talk Title: "Promoting Cancer Health Equity among Asian Americans: Progress and Opportunities."
Cancer is the leading cause of death among Asian Americans; yet little attention hasbeen paid to persistent gaps in cancer screening in this population. This seminar willdescribe how community-engaged approaches can successfully promote cancerscreening behaviors and lead to novel methods for addressing ongoing challenges. New opportunities for engaging Asian American populations to advance health equity will be discussed.
