Drexel FIRST Quarterly Health Equity Seminar Series featuring Dr. Fang

This seminar series is part of the Drexel Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation (FIRST) Program, an NIH-funded research initiative focused on fostering inclusive excellence in health disparities research.

The goal of the seminar series is to provide a forum to discuss and debate exciting work and ideas related to understanding the drivers of health inequities and intervening to eliminate them.

Speaker: Dr. Carolyn Fang, Professor, Cancer Prevention and Control, Associate Director for Population Science, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Temple Health

Talk Title: "Promoting Cancer Health Equity among Asian Americans: Progress and Opportunities."

Cancer is the leading cause of death among Asian Americans; yet little attention hasbeen paid to persistent gaps in cancer screening in this population. This seminar willdescribe how community-engaged approaches can successfully promote cancerscreening behaviors and lead to novel methods for addressing ongoing challenges. New opportunities for engaging Asian American populations to advance health equity will be discussed.
