Migrant health in Ecuador from a human rights perspective

This is the first MERHG seminar of the 2023-2024 academic year. Our first speaker will be Dr. Irene Torres, PhD. She is the Technical Director of Fundacion Octaedro in Ecuador, Strategic Advisor at the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research, and Coordinator of the Observatory on the Implementation of the Health Information System in Ecuador. She has a PhD in health promotion, conducts research on health policy and health systems from an equity perspective, community participation in health promotion, migration, health, and school-based health promotion.

Dr. Torres will discuss her work on Venezuelan migrants in Ecuador and the policies and programs implemented for all migrants with a potential impact on health during and after the pandemic.
