This year’s Population Health Spotlight will discuss a range of pressing issues related to LGBTQ+ health and discuss implications for policies and action.
Many structural and systemic factors impact the health of LGBTQ+ people, creating health related challenges and disparities. Recent legislative actions across the United States have further amplified these impacts and have highlighted the need to address LGBTQ+ health as a core component of population health and health equity.

Whitman-Walker Institute
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Kellan
Baker is the Executive Director of Whitman-Walker Institute, the research,
policy, and education arm of Whitman-Walker, a community health system in DC
that is affiliated with a Federally Qualified Health Center. Dr. Baker is a frequent
advisor on health equity research and policy, with a particular focus on LGBTQ+
populations, and he holds appointments as affiliate faculty in the Departments
of Health Policy and Management at the George Washington University and the
Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. He received his PhD in health policy and
management from Johns Hopkins, where he was a Health Policy Research Scholar
and Centennial Scholar; an MPH and MA from George Washington University; and a
BA with high honors from Swarthmore College.
