NPHW: Aftershock Documentary Screening & Discussion

Thursday, April 6, 2023

5:00 PM-7:30 PM

The Dornsife Student Government Organization, Drexel Maternal and Child Health Student Organization & Peer Health Educators present the screening of the documentary film Aftershock during National Public Health Week 2023 and ahead of Black Maternal Health Week 2023 (second week in April).

Film description: A disproportionate number of Black women are failed every year by the U.S. maternal health system. Shamony Gibson and Amber Rose Isaac lost their lives to preventable childbirth complications. Now, their partners and families sound a rallying cry around this crisis and galvanize activists, birth-workers and physicians.

The screening will be followed by a discussion led by Dr. Aasta Mehta, adjunct faculty in CHP and Medical Officer of Women’s Health at the Division of Maternal and Child Health, PDPH.

A link will be sent via email prior to the event to all who register for online attendance.

Snacks will be available for in-person attendees.

This event is intended for Drexel students, faculty, and staff only.
