MERHG Colloquium: The Immigrant Paradox and Child Mental Health

Tuesday, March 7, 2023

11:00 AM-12:00 PM

Stacey Bevan is a PhD Candidate at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is a Hillman Scholar of Nursing Innovation and Institute of Education Sciences Fellow.

She will describe a project implemented in collaboration with CHOP’s PolicyLab that explores how family integration, primary care practices and social hierarchies like race and legal status may explain why immigrant children have high exposures to mental health risks but lower than expected rates of medical diagnoses that are necessary to access community-based services.
