Welcome Ceremony and Pinning

Friday, September 17, 2021

12:30 PM-2:30 PM

This Ceremony is a long-standing tradition and our opportunity to welcome new students to the Dornsife School of Public Health.

The pinning ceremony was first instituted at the School nearly 20 years ago by the founding Dean and humanitarian, Dr. Jonathan Mann. Incoming students, faculty, and staff receive the school of public health pin.

Student Government Organization Officers will lead the new students in reciting the preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Charter of the World Health Organization as a reflection of the school’s commitment to social justice, our vision of health as a human right, and an important step that formally welcomes all new students into the field of public health.

The keynote speaker will be Mario Cruz, MD, Medical Director for the Pediatric and Adolescent Health Center at Philadelphia FIGHT Community Health Centers.

There will be an in-person and virtual audience.
