Friday, January 15, 2021

11:00 AM-12:00 PM

Join the Migration, Ethnicity, Race and Health Group (MERHG) at Drexel University for a discussion on anti-immigrant stigma or xenophobia which is increasingly pervasive globally.

This talk will present findings from a study that explores the impact of the 2017 travel ban on individuals from Muslim majority countries, and birth outcomes among women from those countries residing in the US.

Goleen Samari, PhD, MPH, MA, assistant professor in the Heilbrunn Department of Population and Family Health at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, will present preliminary findings on how state immigration policy environments have changed from 2009–2019 with potential implications for immigrant health and behavioral outcomes.
