COVID-19 Journal Club

Join us this coming Wednesday for a broad discussion of morbidities associated with COVID-19.

In the past few months, focus on COVID-19 has largely been on the mortality and hospitalization rate from this pandemic, but mortality isn’t the only concern. Several sequalae of the infection have arisen that researchers are starting to understand better.

This week, five presenters will have 15 minutes to present a brief paper (each is 2-3 pages long) describing some of the morbidities associated with the disease followed by a broader discussion.

Note that this journal club is scheduled 30-minutes longer than previous meetings.

• Paper 1: Dr. Neal Goldstein (Epi/Bios) will discuss “The Spectrum of Neurologic Disease in the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Pandemic Infection”
• Paper 2: Dr. Thersa Sweet (Epi/Bios) will discuss the paper “Large-Vessel Stroke as a Presenting Feature of Covid-19 in the Young”
• Paper 3: Dr. Shara Epstein (Medicine/Infectious Disease and HIV Medicine) will discuss “Pulmonary fibrosis secondary to COVID-19”
• Paper 4: Dr. Zsofia Szep (Medicine/Infectious Disease and HIV Medicine) will discuss “New-Onset Diabetes in Covid-19”
• Paper 5: Dr. Elise Mosser (Microbiology and Immunology) will discuss “SARS-CoV-2–Related Inflammatory Multisystem Syndrome in Children”

We invite our colleagues and students from throughout Drexel University to take part in this discussion.
