Impacts of Climate Change on Arctic Indigenous Communities — Workplace Health Without Borders U.S.

Thursday, October 24, 2019

12:30 PM-1:30 PM

The department of Environmental and Occupational Health presents David Goldsmith, PhD, professor at George Washington University and president-elect of Workplace Without Borders U.S. Branch.

Climate change in the arctic has focused on impacts on animals such as polar bears without critical assessment of the disease and injury risks for humans. The seminar will highlight the scientific skills needed for health assessment, including an emphasis on exposure sciences, epidemiology, and medicine, with a focus on pediatric and adult health as well as psychological impacts among indigenous communities and workers in the polar region. In the second part of the seminar, Goldsmith will also discuss opportunities for students and faculty to work on projects to advance worker’s health through Workplace Health Without Borders U.S.
