By Gina Lovasi, PhD, MPH, the Dana and David Dornsife Dean and Professor of Epidemiology at Drexel University's Dornsife School of Public Health

One of Dornsife’s greatest strengths is the network of alumni who carry its mission into the world. That is why I so strongly encourage our alumni to consider becoming a Drexel Ambassador (not to be confused with our Dornsife Ambassadors program led by current students). With the newly launched Drexel Ambassador program, alumni are not simply volunteering their time, they are helping to shape the future of Drexel University.
Our forward momentum depends on alumni who are willing to stand with us, share our story, and help others see the distinctive power of a Drexel education. Alumni voices carry credibility and influence in ways that no brochure or viewbook ever could.
As an Ambassador, alumni will connect with students through mentorship and networking. They will champion Drexel’s growth by supporting recruitment efforts and expanding opportunities for co-op placements and scholarships.
What makes this program especially powerful is its accessibility. Alumni from every college, school, and graduation year can participate. All it takes is pride in Drexel and a willingness to engage. The annual orientation on Dragon Network equips alumni with current information, talking points, and insight into how the University is evolving — ensuring you feel confident speaking with prospective students, fellow alumni, and community members.

Beyond the new ambassador program, alumni stories continue to be an incredibly valuable resource for prospective students. These stories enable prospective students to envision themselves beyond graduation and further into their career. If you have an impactful story to share, please submit a nomination.
Additionally, I urge alumni to check out our school’s recently released Dornsife Strategic Plan 2025-2029 which outlines shared priorities, builds on the school’s strengths, and positions the school to respond to evolving public health challenges with impact and purpose. Alumni are undoubtedly part of the school’s vision as we bridge a changing public health landscape together.
Finally, I hope to see many alumni during Drexel Alumni Weekend in the spring. Our school is hosting a We Are All Public Health event taking place right on Market Street in Nesbitt Hall. Please save the date/time — May 9, 2026, from 2:30-5:00 p.m. Attendees will connect with former classmates, Dornsife personnel, and current students over light refreshments. Dornsife student projects will be on display for attendees to see how their classwork and research are put into action. Lastly, there will be a raffle, activities, and a photo booth to capture lasting memories.
