Matthew LeRoy, PsyD
(he/him/his)Matthew LeRoy, PsyD (he/him/his) is the Training Director / Associate Director of Counseling. He received his graduate degree from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. He has practiced over fifteen years in University counseling centers, including Drexel, and the University of Pennsylvania.
Matt is a generalist with extensive experience centered on issues related to equity and social responsibility. This work includes attending to issues of marginalization and privilege. He believes being a therapist requires flexibility in approaching students to meet their unique needs, and attention to the way culture and identity affects their lived experiences. In therapy, Matt believes listening carefully and learning about the specific difficulties clients are experiencing is crucial to helping them live a more meaningful and authentic life. He sees his role as helping people understand their emotions and different patterns in their lives, with the goal of helping them to live a life they desire. He values discussions about relationships including the collaborative relationship between therapist and client, and the most significant relationships in clients' lives.
Outside of work, Matt enjoys reading speculative fiction, attending concerts, playing board games, and enjoys spending time with his cats Pearse and Radio.
