Job Posting: Assistant Professor of Theoretical (Computational) Condensed Matter Physics and Materials Science and Engineering

Job Overview: The Departments of Physics and Materials Science & Engineering at Drexel University invite applications for a joint faculty position in the area of theoretical (computational) condensed matter physics and materials science. The appointment is anticipated to be at the Assistant Professor level starting on September 1, 2019. The ideal candidate is expected to have demonstrated a strong record of research accomplishments, a potential for establishing a significant externally funded research program, and a strong interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Exceptional candidates may be considered for appointment at a more senior level. Drexel University is a research institution ranked in the top 100 among PhD granting universities according to US News and World Report. Drexel is located in a cosmopolitan urban environment.

Qualifications: A PhD in physics or equivalent and at least two years of postdoctoral experience is required. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching, as evidenced by scientific papers, research or teaching awards, invited talks or other honors.

Essential Functions: We are seeking candidates in the broad area of theoretical/computational condensed matter physics, materials science and interdisciplinary nanoscience. We are looking for individuals to establish a vigorous externally-funded research program which will complement the existing research in the Department of Physics and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering.

Teaching responsibilities will include physics and materials science courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering.

Job Posting: Post Doctoral Researcher

Job Overview: The high energy physics group at Drexel University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in experimental neutrino physics. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on detector R&D for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment, as well as the PROSPECT reactor-based short baseline experiment. This work will be strengthened by other active areas of research in the Department of Physics, including neutrinoless double beta decay with EXO-200 and nEXO, astrophysical neutrinos with IceCube, and direct dark matter detection with PICO.

Qualifications: This position is for one year initially, renewable for up to three years subject to available funding. A PhD in physics or related field is required, and doctoral candidates should indicate the expected date of completion for all degree requirements. The successful candidate will have a background in experimental nuclear or particle physics. Experience with instrumentation, data analysis and simulation is desired. Work-related travel to National Labs and Institutions, as well as conferences is required.
