Connect to your Drexel virtual desktop on a Mac

You can use the VMware Horizon Client to work with Windows desktops directly from your Mac.

If this is the first time you're connecting to your Drexel virtual desktop, first go to the section download and install the VMware Horizon Client for Mac, and then go to the section add a connection server.

However, if you've already installed VMware Horizon Client and added the connection server, then go to the section start a virtual desktop connection.

Download and install the VMware Horizon Client for Mac

  1. Go to the Download VMware Horizon Clients page, and under VMware Horizon Client for Mac, select Go to downloads.
  2. Select Download now to begin the download.
  3. Once the download has completed, go to Finder > Downloads, and double-click the Horizon Client installer.
  4. Follow the prompts to complete your installation.

Add a connection server

  1. Go to Finder > Applications and open the VMware Horizon Client app.
  2. In the Enter the name of the Connection Server box, enter: myvirtual.drexel.edu
  3. Note: If you're not prompted to enter the Connection Server name, select File > New Server.

  4. Select Connect.
  5. Enter your Drexel username and password, and then select Login.
  6. Verify your sign-in with multifactor authentication.
  7. After you've signed in, your virtual desktop session should start automatically. If the virtual desktop doesn't start, double-click ITS-General to start your session.

Start a virtual desktop connection

  1. Open the VMware Horizon Client app.
  2. Enter your Drexel username and password, and then select Login.
  3. Note: If you're not prompted to enter your username and password, double-click myvirtual.drexel.edu.

  4. Verify your sign-in with multifactor authentication.
  5. After you've signed in, your virtual desktop session should start automatically. If the virtual desktop doesn't start, double-click ITS-General to start your session.
