FreshDance Winter Concert: New Journey

January 11, 2016

Drexel’s all-freshmen dance company, FreshDance, will explore ideas of new journeys in their winter concert, which features three pieces professionally choreographed by Drexel faculty members Dr. Miriam Giguere (department head), Valerie Ifill (program director) and Meredith Rainey. The concert will also feature the first ever performance by Drexel dance alumni, To Lift Weight from Her Shoulders, choreographed by 2013 dance program graduate Grace Gamble; and two student-choreographed works created last year for the Drexel Dance Ensemble and reconstructed for this concert by their original choreographers. Performances will take place on February 5 and 6 at 8:00pm in the Mandell Theater.

Dr. Giguere’s piece, Liminal States, unfolds in four distinct sections, each using a different choreographic method and expressing a different kind of change—Location, Group Identity, Relationship, and Self-Identity after a transition.
