The Black Box Theater is excited to premier (NO)E(XIT)N-TRANCE, a new multimedia dance theater work directed by Manfred Fishbeck and Group Motion Dance that was created in collaboration with Nick Jushchyshyn, Program Director for Animation & Visual Effects.

The Westphal College invites all graduating students, their families and faculty of the College to honor our graduating class of 2016 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

As the end of our academic year comes near, the Department of Performing Arts will enliven our campus with a variety of performances from May 13th - June 5th.

The 2016 Photography senior theses will be on view in the Leonard Pearlstein Gallery (3401 Filbert Street) from June 3rd – June 6th, with an opening reception on Friday, June 3rd at 6pm.

The Drexel Interiors Group (DIG) will host the 2016 Interior Design Senior Show of the best work of the graduating class, including their year-long senior projects, on Thursday, June 9th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm in the URBN Center lobby (3501 Market Street).

The 2016 Product Design senior class, the third graduating class from this exciting program, will present their thesis work on Friday, May 27th in the Leonard Pearlstein Gallery (3401 Filbert Street) from 4:30-7:30pm.

The fun begins at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 9th at the International House (3710 Chestnut Street), when 18 senior directors will screen their projects.

Also from the Cinema & Television department, Seniors from the Screenwriting & Playwriting Program will present their capstone projects for 2016 in University Crossings 028 (3715 JFK Blvd) on Wednesday, June 8th at 7pm.

Get ready for an impressive presentation of senior projects and graduate research at the 2016 Digital Media Senior Show & Expo on Sunday, June 5th at the International House (3701 Chestnut St.).

Please join us to see the collections and creations of both undergraduate and graduate Fashion Design students at Fashion ’16 on Saturday, June 4th at the beautiful URBN Outfitters Corporate Headquarters (5000 South Broad Street).

Join us on May 3^rd for a live performance by talented musicians, Courtney Bryana and Brandee Younger as part of Alice Coltrane: Legacy and Inspirations from 5:30-7:30pm in the A.J. Drexel Picture Gallery (3141 Chestnut Street, 3^rd Floor, Main Building). 

A new collaboration between Drexel’s Center for Cultural Partnerships and the African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP) will have Westphal students in the graduate Arts Administration and Museum Leadership, and students from our Architecture and Interior Design programs working closely with the Museum.

Professor Joseph Hancock will lead a special summer course focused on retailing and brand engagement in Las Vegas. Students will examine fashion and retailing as they intersect with the the glamor, glitz and kitsch of this tourist mecca. 

In April, our Product Design Program was ranked one of the top 30 Industrial Design Degrees by College Values Online, and the ranking spoke specifically to the lasting value of acquiring this Westphal Degree. 

Nurturing Emergent Synthetic Life (NESL), a 6-minute short film by Professor Nicole Koltick, Director of the Design Futures Lab, produced in collaboration collaboration with Film & Television Professor Jocelyn Tarquini-Motter and Dragon Productions, will premiere on Wednesday, May 4^th at 6pm in the URBN Annex Screening Room.

With the help of a Westphal Mini-Grant, the MSL is under re-construction as Robert Lloyd, Digital Media and Game Design & Production Professor, and students work feverishly to make needed repairs and updates. 

Expect the unexpected in our Co-op Theater Company’s production of Little Shop of Horrors opening this May, appropriately on Friday the 13^th, in the URBN Annex Black Box Theater (3401 Filbert St.).

We are pleased to co-sponsor the appearance of Laverne Cox, activist and star of Orange is the New Black, as the 2016 Power of Inclusion Speaker. On Tuesday, May 10^th at 6pm, Ms. Cox will speak to a full-house at the Mandell Theater (3201 Chestnut Street).
