March 02, 2011

album covers for when I was 12 and sluteverBantic Media has signed two of Philadelphia's most exciting new acts, the Riot Grrrl inspired duo SLUTEVER, and the 60's pop-inspired quartet WHEN I WAS 12. Bantic Media, the Music Industry program's student-run music marketing company, will release WHEN I WAS 12's self-titled 7-inch album on April 16th and SLUTEVER's Pretend to Be Nice 7-inch album on March 29th.

WHEN I WAS 12 began as a small project of revolving members from suburban New Jersey until things started to gel for the four current band members; front woman Adrianne Gold (guitar/vocals), Daniel Houwen (bass/guitar), Carolyn Haynes (glockenspiel/saxophone/vocals) and Ryan Heupler (drums).  After Adrianne and Carolyn both became students in our Music Industry Program, they began working in earnest on their music and outreach. The foursome has performed at World Café Live and Johnny Brenda's and shared the stage with the likes of Times New Viking, Des Ark, REVOLVER, Dangerous Ponies, and Hop Along. WHEN I WAS 12's eponymous debut EP is a fully realized Drexel University project. Student Eric Sanderson recorded the songs on campus in one of our five professional recording studios and it was then mixed by Clark Connor, and mastered by MAD Dragon Recording Studio Manager Ryan Schwabe. The resulting 7-inch will be released on April 16th, at Record Store Day. Bantic Media will release 300 limited edition pieces of random colored 7-inch vinyl with full color custom sleeves designed by the band and friends. Fifty copies of the colored 7-inch will be available with a t-shirt. Digital downloads and pre-orders for both SLUTEVER and WHEN I WAS 12 are available now at

SLUTEVER is a garage punk band made up of music industry students Rachel Gagliardi and Nicole Snyder, childhood friends who combined raw and real lessons learned as teenagers to record their debut EP Sorry I'm Not Sorry in a hot bathroom. On March 29th, SLUTEVER returns with the new 7-inch Pretend to Be Nice – a breakthrough record with progressing instrumentation and catchy melodies featuring two B-Sides recorded from the Sorry I'm Not Sorry bathroom sessions. Pretend to Be Nice is available both digitally and on vinyl now, with a limited edition of 100 copies of the 7-inch available as red colored vinyl with a screen printed cover and bonus screen printed poster at
