Fashion Alum Named Macys Designer-in-Residence
March 07, 2012
Congratulations to Fashion alumni Autumn Kietponglert (2007), who was selected as one of five Philadelphia-based Designers-in-Residence for the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator at Macy’s Center City (PFI). Mayor Michael Nutter announced the selections at a press conference on Thursday, March 1st at Macy’s Center City location. Autumn is an award-winning independent fashion designer, whose work has been shown around the world and at major fashion events including Philadelphia Fashion Week, Couture Fashion Week (NYC), Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (NYC) and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. In addition to studying at Drexel, Autumn studied in Florence, New York, and Paris and currently runs two design houses, Autumnlin Atelier and Heartless Revival.
The Philadelphia Fashion Incubator at Macy’s Center City is a collaboration between The City of Philadelphia, Center City District, Macy’s Center City, Drexel University and several other educational institutions devoted to fashion design. As a Designer-in-Residence, Autumn will work in a 600 square foot Project Runway-inspired production room and have access to a showroom, office space and other resources within Macy's Center City. The studio space provides access to cutting-edge technology and a vibrant retail setting to produce and showcase garments for local and national retail outlets. While PFI will be housed at Macy’s, the fashion and business communities will participate in the project through a lecture series, resident designers’ program, industry mentor initiatives, and trunk and fashion shows.
