2012 Drexel Fashion Show

The Fashion and Design & Merchandising programs will host their annual fashion show on Saturday, June 2nd. Thirty-three senior and graduate collections from the Fashion Design program will hit the runway at 4 and 8 PM at the Urban Outfitters Corporate Headquarters (5000 S. Broad St bldg 543). Tickets are $30 for the 4 PM show and $50 for the 8 PM show and reception that follows. Tickets are available now at or purchase your tickets in-person in the lobby of Nesbitt Hall from 12 – 2 PM, Monday through Friday, except on Memorial Day and May 30th

The show features evening wear, sportswear, swimwear, men’s wear, children’s wear, lingerie and more. Student work is drawn from a spectrum of influences and this year’s show features work inspired by medieval armor, the life of Marilyn Monroe, The Carnival of Venice, shattered glass, urban explorers, steam punk, skiwear, and human anatomy. Several students have created designs with hand made fabrics, digital prints and eco-friendly materials. Fashion design students begin the research for their collections in the fall and spend the next seven months creating pieces that realize their vision.

Student collections will be eligible for awards from Neiman Marcus, Abercrombie & Fitch, Stores at King of Prussia, Carole Hochman, Evelyn Netsky, Destination Maternity, Joan Shepp, Dick Blick, John Wind and Jaeyoon Jeong. Judges for this year’s fashion show include: Missy Dietz, Neiman Marcus; Megan Gfroerer, Carole Hochman Designs; Damian Ruth, Burberry; Frank Agostino, Agostino; Jayoon Jeong, Jayoon Jeong, NY; John Wind, Maximal Art; Lisa Hendrickson, Destination Maternity; Mary Dougherty, Nicole Miller; Ali McCloud, Stephanie Schaich Bricken, and Althea Harper.

Design & Merchandising students handle all aspects of production including run of show, model dressing, marketing and public relations, box office administration and front of house operations. The Design & Merchandising students also produce a lifestyle and trend publication, d&m magazine, which is distributed to all who attend. DUTV, Drexel University’s cable television station which is carried in the Philadelphia region by Comcast and FIOS, will record the Fashion Show for broadcast at a later date, with production handled by Cinema & Television students.
