Fashionistas Visit

Our Fashion, Design & Merchandising and Product Design Department has been busy the past few months hosting an array of industry insiders for class lectures and critiques. Kayce Thompson, recruiter for apparel company Abercrombie & Fitch talked about the company and job opportunities there for Drexel students.  Joining Thompson was 2011 Fashion Design Alum, Nicole Parisi, who was introduced to Abercrombie & Fitch during last years visit to Drexel’s campus and was hired by the company upon graduation. Ms. Thompson and Ms. Parisi critiqued a sophomore textile design class and provided feedback on portfolios.

The senior fashion design portfolio class invited fashion illustrator, designer, and author, Anna Kiper, to critique their work and provide valuable feedback to strengthen their portfolios for interviewing.  That evening, Ms. Kiper presented a lecture on Fashion Illustration that included a Q&A session offering tips and demonstrations of her artistic techniques.  A signing of her new book “Fashion Illustration Inspiration and Technique” followed.

Basia Szkutnicka, the Study Abroad director at the prestigious London College of Fashion, gave a lecture on “Design in Context of Cultural Change.” The lecture provided a global perspective on the design process, technology and consumerism.
