Yvonne Leach has held numerous administrative appointments at Drexel University including those of program director, department head, and associate dean.  As a filmmaker for most of her career, Yvonne enjoyed writing, directing, and producing documentary, narrative, experimental, and educational projects that received funding from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the Philadelphia Independent Film/Video Association, the William Penn Foundation, Women’s Way, Cigna, and others.  She has been a recipient of a Pennsylvania Media Arts Scriptwriting Fellowship and has had her work distributed through the University of California Extension - Center for Media and Independent Learning.

In recent years, she has shifted her attention to television studies, primarily focusing on science fiction and fantasy television shows.  In her scholarship, she has addressed topics such as cinematic style, performance, and narrative structure (including the adaptation of novels to television), as well as the delineation of contemporary trends within various television genres.  She is also interested in issues related to the portrayal of race, ethnicity, and gender within prime-time television.

Yvonne teaches television studies courses such as Art of TV Drama, Science Fiction Television, and Teen Drama.  She also teaches Documentary Workshop, part of the Production Workshop course at the junior level.  In her teaching, Yvonne always enjoys brainstorming with students about their work and helping them develop their own visions and styles to create meaningful projects.
