Tony Bracali is the University Architect and AVP of Planning, Design and Construction at Drexel University. He’s responsible for the integration of campus planning and urban design with the larger strategic direction of the University. Much of his effort has been focused on the evolution of Drexel’s 120-year-old urban campus into the next 50 years. His twenty-five-year professional career spans Architecture, Campus Planning and Real Estate Development. He has spoken nationally and internationally on a range of topics related to planning and design and has been recognized with a variety of design and professional awards.
Prior to joining Drexel, he served as Senior Director of Planning, Design and Construction at Jefferson. There he directed all the design and planning for the Center City Hospital Campus, East Falls University Campus and Methodist Hospital. He was responsible for over 70 projects valued beyond $600 million and for managing ten (10) project managers.
As VP of Design & Director of Architecture at The Goldenberg Group; Tony led the design and creative process for all projects. He was responsible for site and zoning evaluations, program development and conceptual design for housing, mixed-use, commercial and retail projects that ranged in scale from $50 million to $500 million.
While a partner at Friday Architects/Planners, inc from 2008 to 2015, Tony led the design, documents and execution of landmark projects in Philadelphia including re-design of the historic Reading Terminal Market, conversion of an award-winning Performing Arts Charter School and Paines Park - a public space for skateboarding near the base of the Art Museum steps.
Away from the office, he enjoys time in the outdoors and upstate New York with his wife (who is a fellow Drexel Alumni) and family. Tony is a PIAA Certified Volleyball official. His oldest daughter is a Freshman at UWF, his youngest daughter plays club volleyball and his son is an aspiring Drexel engineer.
