Celebrating National Research Administrator Day

The Office of Research & Innovation and the Office of the Comptroller is proud to recognize Drexel’s research administrators today, September 25, in honor of National Research Administrator Day!

Research administration touches nearly every stage of the research lifecycle, from helping investigators identify and pursue funding opportunities to developing proposals, negotiating agreements, managing the financial and non-financial aspects of awards, supporting compliance, and navigating an increasingly complex research environment.

Within our offices and across the administrative and academic units of the University, these professionals work behind the scenes to help Drexel maintain its standing as a world-class, R1 research university and advance Drexel’s research aspirations. Please join us in recognizing the following teams, whose contributions and dedication help foster the innovation and discovery for which Drexel is known:

Academic Unit Research Administrators: Working directly with faculty and research teams within Drexel’s schools, colleges, and departments, academic unit research administrators provide essential on-the-ground support throughout the research lifecycle. Their knowledge, collaboration, and close partnership with investigators and central administrative teams help researchers navigate processes, manage sponsored activities, and keep research moving forward.
Research Accounting Services: Teaming with principal investigators and department administrators throughout the lifecycle of sponsored awards, Research Accounting Services provides financial management and oversight from award through closeout, ensures compliance with sponsor and federal requirements, and provides training and guidance to support the effective stewardship of sponsored funding.
Applied Innovation: Expanding the impact of Drexel research through comprehensive technology transfer, this team helps advance discoveries and innovations beyond the University and into broader use.
Office of Sponsored Programs: Supporting sponsored activities throughout the award lifecycle, OSP oversees pre-award and non-financial post-award administration for grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements.
Research Business Operations & Technology: Building the foundation for operational and organizational excellence within ORI, RBOT supports the people, operations, and technology systems that enable ORI and the research community to succeed.
Research Compliance & Regulatory Affairs: Comprised of HRPP-IRB, IACUC, ULAR, Radiation Safety, IBC, Quality Assurance, and Research Compliance, including Export Control, COI, and Research Integrity, this team works tirelessly to ensure research is conducted safely, responsibly, and to the highest standards at Drexel.
Research Core Facilities: Providing access to advanced instrumentation and services, the Core Facilities team offers expertise in experimental design and data analysis, as well as technical training for Drexel students, researchers, faculty, and external academic and industry partners.
