Weekly Virtual Round Table/Lightning Talks on IT/Research Computing
Faculty, researchers, and students are invited to join staff from Drexel IT and the Office of Research and Innovation for weekly virtual round table discussions focused on academic computing services and needs.
We’ll start each hour covering important news, updates, and events, before moving on to questions and discussion. To encourage open and frank dialogue, these meetings will not be recorded.
Winter Term Schedule (January 11–March 14, 2024):
- Academic and Instructional IT Office Hours: Thursdays at 10 AM
- Research IT Office Hours: Thursdays at 11 AM

During the Research IT Office Hours, the University Research Computing Facility will begin with 15-minute lightning talks that focus on advanced research computing topics. Specific topics for the remainder of the Winter quarter are as follows:
- February 15, 2024: Spark and sparklyr, large-memory distributed computing for R
- February 22, 2024: Spark and pyspark, large-memory distributed computing for Python
- February 29, 2024: Advanced scheduling in Slurm: efficiency and utilization
- March 7, 2024: Advanced scheduling in Slurm: job array and chained jobs
