Export Controls Training

All members of our University community who work or participate in activities or projects that may be subject to the U.S. Export Control laws are strongly encouraged to take CITI online training. Faculty members, staff and students who are engaged in research activities subject to a Technology Control Plan are required to complete this training. Individuals and department representatives may contact comp.export@drexel.edu to schedule in person export controls education and training.

Online Training

Drexel University utilizes the CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative) program for providing access to an online Export Controls training course. The online training course covers the following modules:

  • An overview of U.S. Export Control Regulations
  • Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)

Below are the steps to register for the training:

Access the CITI program.

To register for the first time through Drexel University, enter “Drexel University” in the “Select Your Organization Affiliation” box. Please set your CITI preferred email address to your Drexel email. (For any CITI account previously registered with a non-Drexel email address, please take the steps outlined in the ORI CITI Update Email SOP to update your preferred address to your Drexel email.) After registering, follow the subsequent prompts to set yourself up as a learner. Each course module consists of instructional text, related case studies, and a quiz. The quiz can be retaken until a minimum passing score of 80% is achieved. If you have any questions about this program, please contact comp.export@drexel.edu.
