When applying to the Custom-Designed Major (CSDN), all students develop an individualized academic plan that includes every class they intend to take through their graduation.

Degree Requirements

Students in the Custom-Designed Major must take a minimum of 180 credits to complete their degree. Plans of study include the following course types:

Drexel Foundational Courses: 12 credits

Required courses for all Drexel undergraduate students.

Custom-Designed Major Core Courses: 18 credits

Core courses ground CSDN students in the theories and methods of interdisciplinary inquiry while building student self-advocacy skills, communication strategies, and connections with the CSDN cohort.

General Education Requirements: 32 credits

General education courses broaden CSDN students' understanding of methodological approaches in disciplines beyond their areas of concentration.

Courses From Three Individualized Concentration Areas (Individualized Major Courses): 118+ credits

Individualized major courses deepen CSDN students' skills and knowledge base within the disciplines they are bringing together in their concentration areas.

Individualized Major Courses

CSDN students take most of their courses in their individualized concentration areas. To demonstrate they have achieved academic depth and rigor, CSDN students must take at least three upper-division courses (300- or 400-level) in each of their concentrations. Generally, upper-division courses have tiers of pre-requisite courses; CSDN students must satisfy all listed pre-requisite courses.
