Drexel’s men’s basketball team will take the court at Madison Square Garden over the holiday to compete against some of the top teams in the nation at the semifinals of the National Invitation Tournament Season Tip-Off. The Dragons will face Arizona on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and will play either Duke or Alabama on Nov. 29. Both games will be aired on the ESPN family of networks.

Men's Soccer Wins 2013 CAA Championship

Drexel's men's soccer team used an early goal and a sterling defensive performance to bring home its first Colonial Athletic Association title with a 1-0 victory over William & Mary at Vidas Field. Freshman defender Jameson Detweiler's first-half goal proved to be the difference in the tightly contested match.

With a dramatic victory over Delaware in the semifinals of the CAA Tournament Drexel’s men’s soccer team earned its first trip to the title game of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship. The Dragons will face William & Mary for the championship at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Vidas Field.

Drexel’s men’s soccer team will vie for its first Colonial Athletic Association title this week as the top-seeded Dragons host the CAA Tournament at Vidas Field. Drexel will face its rival Delaware in the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the tournament are free with a valid student ID.

Drexel University’s Sport Management Student Union (SMTSU) will host its First Annual Sport for Social Change Conference on Friday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Special guests will present on topics including the responsibilities of athletes to give back to the community and be role models; the role of sports in youth development; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) issues in sport; access to sport for disabled athletes; and safety issues in sport.

The U.S. Open Squash Championships will have a home in Philadelphia for the next 10 years as the association signed a deal with Drexel University to continue hosting the tournament through 2023.

Drexel Announces Launch of New Academic Unit in Hospitality and Sport Management

Drexel University announced the launch of the Center for Hospitality and Sport Management, reporting directly to the provost. Formerly in the Goodwin College of Professional Studies, the freestanding Center will include programs in sport management, hospitality management, culinary arts and food science. It will be headed up by Dr. Jonathan Deutsch, who previously directed Drexel’s hospitality, culinary and food science programs.
