At the annual Employee Olympics event held this past Wednesday, Drexel University faculty and staff came together from all over the University to compete and support their colleagues in a variety of games and activities, from volleyball to dodgeball to tennis. The Dragons once again enjoyed beautiful weather and many indoor and outdoor sports during this festive annual opportunity to live well.
During this year's Employee Olympics event, Executive Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Operating Officer Helen Bowman and Vice President of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness Megan Weyler teamed up to challenge Senior Vice President of Government and Community Relations Brian Keech and Vice President of Government and Community Relations David Wilson during a senior leadership baggo match at 1:30 p.m.
Thanks to Drexel’s 2018 Wellness Incentive Program, everyone who participated in the 2018 Olympics was paid to play. A $25 credit towards the cost of Drexel medical insurance will be issued to everyone who both registers for the 2018 Wellness Incentive Program and completes their Personal Health Profile (PHP).
The unofficial mascots of this year’s standout event were Drexel's multi-generational therapy dog family — consisting of grandmother Chai, new mom Espresso, and 13-week-old-baby Java. These three Cane Corsos trotted and pranced through the various events, enjoying hugs and pets from delighted employees.
In this year’s Employee Olympics, the biggest event was the non-competitive fun walk, thus proving that Drexel employees enjoy camaraderie and self-care. 90 employees got moving together and walked to the banks of the Schuylkill River and back.
