Drexel Crew Takes the River at Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta

Drexel Women's Crew

Drexel Crew will send 12 boats into competition at the 2013 Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River on May 10-11. The annual rowing completion is one of the largest in the country, with more than 125 varsity rowing teams from the United States and Canada descending on Philadelphia for the weekend.

Drexel’s Director of Rowing Paul Savell will guide seven men’s and five women’s boats vying for a top spot in the grand final on Saturday. The Dragons finished second overall in the team points competition last year after sending five boats to the final and winning a program-record four medals.

The Drexel men, who reached the medal podium twice last year, silver for the novice eight and bronze for the varsity eight, will open competition at 7:06 a.m. on Saturday. The women, whose novice eight and second varsity eight boats both earned gold medals last year, will follow with their first boat at 8:24 a.m.
