Heard Around Campus — December
It’s the end of 2019 — which means it’s the very end of the fall term, and this is the last Heard Around Campus of the year. But before you get ready to leave campus, make sure you’re aware of changes that might impact you immediately before or after the winter break.
Here’s what was heard around campus this month:
Winter Break Hours for Bus Service, Shipping & Receiving
Winter break for Drexel, including the College of Medicine and Drexel University Online, begins at the close of business on Dec. 20, 2019 and lasts through Jan. 1, 2020 with the University resuming operations on Jan. 2. There will be no campus bus service from Dec. 21 through Jan. 1; all routes will return to their normal schedules on Jan. 2. The Shipping and Receiving department will operate on Dec. 23, Dec. 26–27, and Dec. 30 from the hours of 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Jan. 2, Shipping and Receiving will return to its normal hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Queen Lane Bus Route Schedule Changes Effective Jan. 6
Effective Jan. 6, campus bus service along the Queen Lane Route will be modified to accommodate current ridership numbers. The first departure from Queen Lane will now take place at 7 a.m., and the last departure will occur at 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please note the new schedule does not take effect until Jan. 6, at which time it will be reflected on the Queen Lane Route webpage and the DrexelOne mobile app. Please refer to the email communication sent from Real Estate and Facilities on Dec. 17 for a preview of the new schedule.

Now Available: Facilities & Administrative Rate Agreements
Drexel University has finalized its Facilities and Administrative (F&A), also known as Indirect Cost, rate negotiation with the Department of Health and Human Services’ Cost Allocation Services. This information has been posted on the Office of the Comptroller's website. Please note these rates are strictly applicable to awards made directly to Drexel University. Awards for the Academy of Natural Sciences are subject to their specific rate agreement, which is being finalized and will be communicated separately.

Free Financial Check-up Sessions (15 Wellness Points)
Think you'll be feeling over-spent after the 2019 holiday season? Start your 2020 off right with a Financial Check-up with Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union (FMFCU). These free, 45-minute financial advising sessions will take place at the FMFCU University City branch (3200 Chestnut St.) on Jan. 29 and Feb. 6, and you can earn you 15 points toward the Employee Wellness Incentive Program. Drexel Police Monthly Meet & Greet
Stop by the Drexel Police Substation at the front desk of Gerri C. LeBow Hall (first floor, inside the A.J. Drexel statue entrance) on the third Wednesday of each month from 1–3 p.m. to ask questions, voice concerns, find resources, or just say hello. The next Drexel Police Monthly Meet & Greet will be held Jan. 15.
Public Safety R.A.D & Self-Protection Classes
The R.A.D. System provides self-defense courses on the basics of hands-on defense training taught by certified R.A.D. instructors. R.A.D. manuals are provided to course participants, outlining the entire physical defense program. Sign up for our winter or spring session of RAD classes now on the Public Safety website. If you’d like to start off with a shorter, less physical self-defense class, Public Safety has created a two-hour class providing basic techniques for protecting yourself. Please contact Linda Moran at lmm467@drexel.edu to schedule your group for this new class.
Faculty/Staff Family Days at the DAC
Show your Drexel pride and join Drexel Basketball for Faculty/Staff Family Day on Jan. 19. Tickets are available at a special rate of $12 for adults, which includes admission to the game and a $5 voucher for concessions. Admission for children under the age of 12 is free with the purchase of an adult ticket (youth tickets don’t include the $5 voucher).
To purchase tickets, visit drexeltickets.com, and select the "Faculty/Staff Family Day" ticket type for Women’s Basketball vs. Delaware on Jan. 19. You can also purchase tickets by calling 1.866.4.DREXEL or visiting the Drexel Ticket Office between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday–Friday. Tickets must be purchased in advance; offer not valid day of the game.
