Spring Term: What's on Tap
Sure, there’s been a lot of snow on the ground recently, but make no mistake: spring is coming and with it, spring term at Drexel University.
DrexelNow has a rundown of all the key dates, events and opportunities for students during Drexel's spring.
April 2: Classes begin. Happy syllabus week!
April 6: Last day to secure a closed section override. Last day to add/drop a course with academic adviser assistance. And last day to resolve financial holds.
April 8: Last day to add/drop a course via DrexelOne by 11 p.m.
April 9: Class of 2018 Celebration.
This event is for seniors to reflect on their favorite Drexel memories while creating new ones! You can enter to win great raffle prizes — Drexel gear and a voucher for your graduation regalia — while signing the Class of 2018 banner. There will be food and drinks!
April 11: Academy Town Square: How the Urban Jungle Drives Evolution
Held by the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, the Academy Town Square series engages and provides relevant educational content to the public on environmental issues. This free event will feature a discussion on how manmade environments are affecting the evolution of animals and plants.
April 16–22: Drexel Earth Week Instagram challenge.
Show off your interpretations of sustainability by posting Instagram pictures with the tag #DrexelEarthWeek for a chance to win a prize from a local vendor.
April 17: EarthFest.
At this block party-style celebration held along Lancaster Walk, you can soak in all the food, fun, games and giveaways celebrating the environment.
April 19–May 25: SOUND MACHINES exhibited at the Pearlstein Gallery.
This exhibit explores the interplay between sound and object, performance and sculpture, and our changing experience of sound in an age of digital reproduction.
April 19: Fresh Check Day.
Fresh Check Day is a national event held to support mental health awareness and suicide prevention in interactive and engaging ways. Drexel Recreational Athletics, Counseling Center, and Student Life are proud to present Fresh Check Day for the very first time at Drexel.
April 22: Earth Day at the Academy of Natural Sciences
Through the Academy’s collections, exhibits and other offerings, learn what you can do to help the environment.
April 24: “Lake Placid:” Now That’s a Croc!
The Philadelphia Film Society will host a showing of “Lake Placid,” in which a 30-foot croc shows up in a picturesque lake in backwoods Maine, at the Academy of Natural Sciences. Afterwards, Academy Dinosaur Hall Coordinator Jason Poole will discuss the “science” behind the film.
May 1: Adulting 101: De-stressing the Senses.
Adulting 101 is a series all about sharpening the life skills needed to succeed beyond the classroom and beyond. This event will feature tips for managing stress after college.
May 18: Last day to withdraw from a course with academic advisor assistance. Commencement ceremonies for the College of Medicine and Kline School of Law.
May 21–23: Drexel Writing Festival
Come for events, lectures and activities to help you expand your knowledge and love of reading and writing. Highlighted workshops will discuss songwriting, using storytelling in video games and how food writing can relate to the human experience.
May 28: Memorial Day (University holiday).
June 11: Classes end.
June 12: Term examinations begin.
June 14–15: College and school graduation ceremonies and doctoral hooding ceremony.
June 15: University-wide commencement.
June 16: Term examinations end.
