Security magazine has ranked Drexel University No. 3 in the nation for safety among colleges and universities for 2012. This marks the third consecutive year that Drexel ranked in the top 10. Drexel and the University of Pennsylvania, which ranked at No. 1, were the only two universities in Pennsylvania in the top 20.

Drexel’s men's soccer team will play host to the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament this weekend, with semifinal games set for Friday evening and the championship game on Sunday afternoon. Drexel, the league's regular-season champion, will play Hofstra at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, All tournament games will be played at the Vidas Athletic Complex on 43rd and Powelton Ave.

Drexel’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will take the court on Friday to open the 2012-13 season. Both squads reached the Colonial Athletic Association Championship last year and return with equally high aspirations for this season. The men’s, who were picked to win the league in the preseason conference coaches/media poll, play at Kent State at 7 p.m. The women’s team, who are once again projected for a top-four finish in the conference, will travel to play at Providence with a 7 p.m. tip.

After winning its first ever Colonial Athletic Association title, Drexel’s field hockey team will face No. 2 Princeton (17-1) in the first round of the 2012 NCAA Championship on Saturday, Nov. 10. The Dragons (15-6) earned their first automatic bid by defeating the Northeastern Huskies in the conference championship, a 2-1 overtime affair. Drexel, ranked No. 15 in the nation, enters the NCAA tournament for the second time in the program's history.

For the first time in the history of Drexel athletics, the Dragons will send three teams to their respective conference tournaments following a tour de force by the school’s squads this fall. Drexel’s field hockey team will host the Colonial Athletic Association Championship this weekend after earning the top seed. The second-seeded women’s soccer team will travel Williamsburg, Va. to play in the tournament semifinals on Friday, while the men’s team wraps up its regular-season run against James Madison with a chance to earn the top spot in its tournament.
