Drexel men's soccer will play its final regular-season game on Friday, Nov. 2 with the top seed in the conference tournament hanging in the balance.

For the first time in the history of Drexel athletics, the Dragons will send three teams to their respective conference tournaments following a tour de force by the school’s squads this fall. Drexel’s field hockey team will host the Colonial Athletic Association Championship this weekend after earning the top seed. The second-seeded women’s soccer team will travel Williamsburg, Va. to play in the tournament semifinals on Friday, while the men’s team wraps up its regular-season run against James Madison with a chance to earn the top spot in its tournament.

The unprecedented success this fall is the result of a combined 37 victories by the Dragons’ squads, including a cumulative 19-5-2 mark in conference contests heading into the weekend.

Drexel’s field hockey team went 13-6 overall this season and posted a 5-2 record in CAA play to earn its sixth straight conference tournament bid. The Dragons will take the field on Saturday, Nov. 3 at noon against the winner of a quarterfinal matchup between William & Mary and Delaware. The CAA Championship game will be played at 3 p.m. p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4.

After completing its most successful season in program history, Drexel Women’s Soccer will make its first appearance ever in the CAA Tournament after earning the No. 2 seed. The Dragons will face UNC Wilmington in a 5 p.m. match on Friday, Nov. 2 on the campus of William & Mary. The team finished with a 13-3-2 overall record and a 7-2-1 mark in conference play, both win totals set all-time records for the program.

The men’s soccer team saw its final regular-season match postponed to Friday, Nov. 2 thank to Hurricane Sandy. The Dragons, who are 11-3-2 overall and 7-1-1 in CAA play, will host James Madison at 7 p.m. at Vidas Field to decide their conference tournament seeding. If the Dragons win or tie they could claim the top seed in next weekend’s conference tournament for the first time since 2007.

CAA Field Hockey Championship tickets are available at Buckley Field and admission is free for students with a Drexel ID.
