A Conversation with Former Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey on Law Enforcement and His Career
Charles H. Ramsey is a nationally recognized leader in law enforcement, having risen through the ranks of the Chicago Police Department to become deputy superintendent, then leading police departments in Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, where violent crimes declined during his tenure.
In 2014, President Obama appointed him to lead the 21st Century Policing Task Force.
After retiring from the Philadelphia Police Department in January 2016, he was appointed the inaugural Distinguished Visiting Fellow of the Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation at Drexel, where he is also affiliated with the Department of Criminology and Justice Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences.
