At Kline, law students begin to master legal methods and legal writing skills at orientation – before their classes even begin. Our faculty work closely with students, providing individualized attention. They graduate with the skills that will make them effective in the courtroom, the boardroom or any other venue.

Our curriculum gives students opportunities to gain experience in legal research, analysis, writing and oral advocacy in class, in co-op placements, in clinics and in pro bono projects that expose them to legal practice throughout Philadelphia and beyond.

• During orientation, students critically read and interpret cases and statutes, conduct research in print and electronic media and place themselves in the lawyer's role by analyzing hypothetical problems.
• The intensive first-year curriculum prepares students for future co-op placements and clinics, where they will work in a variety of legal practice settings.
• At the end of the first year, students argue briefs before practicing attorneys in real Philadelphia courtrooms.
• Legal Methods faculty  and co-op faculty work together so that course materials remain lively and relevant to today's practice. Seminars that are part of the Co-op program reinforce these skills.
• Students can hone their skills even further through upper-level courses that involve substantial research and writing components.
