3Ls Emilee Siegl and Savannah Merceus team were awarded Second-Best Oral Argument in the National Saul Lefkowitz Trademark Law Moot Court Competition on March 16.

Siegl and Merceus were among just 12 teams that advanced to the national rounds from regional competitions across the U.S. in which 80 took part.  The national rounds were held at U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in Washington, D.C.

“The team received a higher oral argument score than all but one other team,” said Professor Veronica Finkelstein, who serves as faculty adviser for the Moot Court Board. “This is our best showing at the Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition, and I’m extremely proud of all the hard work the competitors and coaches put in.”

The pair was coached by Emily A. Denisco, ’17, a technical adviser at Volpe & Koenig in Center City, and Gary Levin of BakerHostetler.

The competition is hosted by the International Trademark Association in honor of Lefkowitz, the chief judge of the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
