Paul Flanagan, an authority on compliance and privacy who has spent decades working with some of the nation’s leading health care providers and higher education institutions, has joined the Kline School of Law faculty.
Most recently, Flanagan served as executive director of compliance and privacy services for the Drexel University Compliance and Privacy Office, managing compliance and data privacy and security programs for the University and Drexel College of Medicine.
Previously, he held leadership posts at Abington Memorial Hospital, Hahnemann University Hospital and the University of Florida’s Shands Health System and held compliance and privacy positions at Stanford University and the University of Arizona. He has also served as vice president and chief compliance and privacy officer at Precyse Solutions and chief compliance and privacy officer at 21st Century Oncology, one of the nation’s largest medical oncology practices.
Flanagan is a member of InfraGard, a partnership between the FBI and the private sector that promotes public-private collaboration to safeguard businesses, academic institutions and government agencies.
He has served on the adjunct faculty at the University of Southern California, Bellevue University and Widener University Delaware Law School.
Dual certified in both compliance and health care compliance, Flanagan is the author of numerous articles, book chapters and reports, including BNA’s “Special Report Implementing a Compliance Program to Prevent Health Care Fraud and Abuse: Report from the Front, Prevention of Corporate Liability” and Wolters Kluwer’s 2013 “Health Law and Compliance Update.”
Flanagan received his JD from Creighton University School of Law and his MS in Human Resources/Hospital Administration from Widener University.
