Professor Kevin Woodson discussed diversity issues in large law firms at a CLE organized by the Philadelphia chapter of the National Bar Association Women’s Law Division in partnership with Dechert LLP on Nov. 16.
Woodson presented his research on diversity in Big Law, exploring a range of topics, from salary negotiation to the importance of mentors and sponsors and other tips for career advancement in the legal profession. He has published widely on racial issues in legal, corporate and academic settings; his articles have appeared in journals including Cardozo Law Review, Stanford Journal of Civil Rights & Civil Liberties and Penn State Law Review.
He joined Roberta Torian, a partner at Reed Smith, and Gina Passarella, the executive director of The American Lawyer on the panel, which was moderated by Judge Lucretia C. Clemons of the Court of Common Pleas.
The event was organized by alumna Alisha Lubin, ’15, who is vice president of the NBA Women Lawyers Division, Philadelphia Chapter.
