Professor Emily Zimmerman and Associate Dean Susan Brooks will speak at the Global Legal Skills Conference in Verona, Italy on May 22.
They will give a presentation on “Preparing Law Students for Global Legal Practice by Recognizing Uncertainty and Developing a Reflective Practice in the Face of Uncertainty.” They will be joined on the panel by Professor Diane Labrèche of the Université de Montréal Faculté de Droit.
The conference brings together legal writing faculty interested in international education.
As the associate dean for experiential learning, Brooks oversees the law school’s clinic, co-op and pro bono programs. She is a recognized authority on experiential learning in legal education who was a guest faculty member at law schools in Thailand and Australia in 2013.
Zimmerman has produced significant research assessing the value of requiring continuing practice experience for law faculty and exploring the effectiveness of diverse approaches to legal education in promoting student engagement.
