Professors Reena Parambath, Tracye Edwards and Amy Montemarano presented methods for providing online seminars that support student co-op placements at a national conference on legal externships at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law on Feb. 28.
They discussed features of the law school’s Co-op Program that offers some sections of the Lawyering Practice Seminar online, benefiting students who complete out-of-state or international co-op placements. A distinctive feature of the law school’s Co-op Program, the seminars provide students opportunities to reflect on their experiences in the field, share their observations with peers and explore the diverse roles played by practitioners.
Parambath, who directs the Co-op Program, Edwards and Montemarano discussed methods they use to engage students who take part in the asynchronous online seminar, to manage their own time as instructors and to overcome technological limitations.
