Professors Susan Brooks and Emily Zimmerman Present at ‘Psychology and Lawyering’ Conference

Associate Dean Susan Brooks and Professor Emily Zimmerman will speak at a conference, “Psychology and Lawyering: Coalescing the Field,” at the University of Nevada – Las Vegas on Feb. 21 and 22.
Brooks will co-lead a discussion on Teaching Relational Competencies and Emotional Intelligence, joining professors from Charlotte School of Law, Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Touro Law Center, the University of Miami School of Law and the University of San Francisco School of Law.
Zimmerman will give a presentation on an empirical research project on “Law Students, Lawyering and Grit” that she is conducting with Leah Brogan, a graduate student in Drexel University’s Department of Psychology and Eli Tsukayama, a post-doctoral student in the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Psychology. She will join speakers from the University of Colorado Law School, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Law on panel focused on the Psychology of the Lawyer.
Brooks is a pioneer in the emerging field of therapeutic jurisprudence, and she has published numerous articles on relationship-centered legal education and practice.
Zimmerman has studied effective methodologies in legal education, conducting research to assess strengths and weaknesses in legal pedagogy.
