Professor Robert Field spoke on the panel, "When Good Drugs Turn Bad," at the Philadelphia Science Festival on April 23.
Field discussed the history of drug regulation in the U.S. and the ways in which major scandals over the past 100 years led to the passage of laws designed to promote safety in the development and use of prescription drugs.
Professor Adeboye Adejare, of the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, and Antoinette Thwaites, a forensic chemist and CEO/Founder of the Association of Women in Forensic Science, Inc., joined Field for the discussion.
Field is a nationally recognized expert on health policy and public health law whose research focuses on ethical issues in managed care, public policy and legal facets of health care reform and genetic screening.
