Garrett Epps, a columnist with The Atlantic, praised a Sept. 22 op-ed in the New York Times written by Professor Lisa T. McElroy and Slate Senior Editor Dahlia Lithwick, which rebuked the U.S. Supreme Court for its “absolute radio silence” when declining to stay the execution of Troy Davis.
In a column titled “A Constitutional-Law Nerd's Take on Upcoming Supreme Court Cases,” Epps cited widespread criticism the court received for its handling of the matter and referred to the opinion piece McElroy co-authored as the “most cogently written.”
Huffington Post Supreme Court correspondents Mike Sacks and JD Bell have also cited the column, which received notice in the New York Times’ Motherlode column and the widely read SCOTUSblog.
