Information for Academic Advisors
Every visiting student is assigned a Drexel academic advisor based on their declared Drexel major. Academic advisors are responsible for reviewing student's applications, registering students for their courses, and providing support as needed.
Application Review Process
Once a student submits their application, the Inbound Exchange Coordinator will review materials to ensure they meet all requirements (i.e. transcripts must be official, pre-requisite equivalents must be provided). If there are any mistakes on the student’s application, the Inbound Exchange Coordinator will follow up with the student to resubmit their application correctly.
Once the student’s application is complete, the Inbound Exchange Coordinator uploads the student’s official transcript and preliminary course selection to a SharePoint folder. The link to the SharePoint folder, along with the student’s information (their name, host institution, and intended Drexel major), is sent to the academic advisor of the college or school that the student is applying to. Every Drexel college or school that has hosted inbound exchange students has an assigned academic advisor.
The academic advisor is responsible for reviewing the student’s preliminary course selection and transcript to determine whether they are qualified to study at Drexel. The advisor may require additional material or alternative course preferences from the student; if so, they may ask the Inbound Exchange Coordinator to request that information from the applicant.
If accepted, the Inbound Exchange Coordinator will send an acceptance email to the student and their assigned academic advisor. The student’s assigned academic advisor will be responsible for registering the student for their courses throughout their term(s) at Drexel.
