Please join us Friday, December 8th at 5:30pm for an opening reception for the exhibition Holding Your Drink: 3,000 Years of Drinking Vessels from the Drexel and Salzberg Collections located in the Anthony J. Drexel Picture Gallery and Rincliffe Gallery on the 3rd floor of the Main Building. The exhibition displays drinking vessels from around the world and explores their multiple functions, materials and ritual meanings. The exhibition was curated by students in the 2017 "Exhibitions and Programming" class of Drexel's Graduate Museum Leadership Program.

Earl Dotter: Life's Work

Award-winning photojournalist, Earl Dotter, will be giving a lecture on his current exhibitions in Drexel's Rincliffe Gallery and his work as an occupational and environmental photographer. Earl Dotter will be speaking about his earliest artistic influences at the School of Visual Arts in New York from 1967-1968, and how it lead him to focus his camera upon the lives of working Americans from then up to present day. This lecture will provide the audience with an illustrated view of the trajectory of his photography career.

Please join us Friday, January 27th from 4 to 6 PM in the Rincliffe Gallery, 3rd floor Main Building (3141 Chestnut St.) for the opening reception of the exhibition Plakat Polski: Selections from The Frank Fox Polish Poster Collection and the Kenneth F. Lewalski Polish Posters Collection. These two collections from the Westphal College of Media Arts & Design represent one of the most comprehensive surveys of Soviet-era Polish posters in an institution in the United States. Selected and curated by Mark Willie, Teaching Professor, Graphic Design, Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, the exhibition is on view through March 31st.

A presentation on the conservation of objects from The Drexel Collection including the treatment and conservation of a pair of celestial and terrestrial library globes and stands by Charles Smith & Son, c. 1870, and the conservation of paintings from the Collection. All of these pieces were selected for conservation as part of an initiative started in 2012 to improve the care and preservation of The Drexel Collection.

Not only were the Drexel’s important in the world of business and philanthropy in the 19th century, but they were also patrons of the arts, the subject of artists, and many were artists themselves. This Family Weekend, come tour the main display areas of the Drexel Collection — the Anthony J. Drexel Picture Gallery and the Rincliffe Gallery. Tours will depart from the Great Court of the Main Building at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m on Friday, November 11th and 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 12th. Tours will depart in groups of 30.
