Tavanya Lockett, MPH ‘01, PMP, is Founder & CEO of Mainline Advisory & Consulting Group based in Delaware. The advisory and consulting firm focuses on helping healthcare systems, public health agencies, and mission-driven organizations turn complex challenges into executable priorities and measurable outcomes. Bringing a wealth of knowledge and 25+ years of experience to her clients, she specializes in strategy development, enterprise program and project management, organizational transformation, and leadership development.
A graduate of the Dornsife School of Public Health’s Master of Public Health (MPH) program, Tavanya leads complex integrations and governance changes across multi-state organizations, helping teams get on the same page when goals feel unclear.
“My work centers on bringing clarity to ambiguity—aligning leaders, strengthening operating models, and ensuring strategic priorities move from vision to disciplined execution,” she shares.
This fulfilling career path began with a desire to make an impact on population health. Pursuing an MPH was a no-brainer for Tavanya, and Drexel University's experiential learning model just made sense.
“I wanted to do work that would extend beyond individual impact and influence the health and wellbeing of entire communities. I was drawn to the idea that through public health, I could contribute at the community, policy, and systems level—addressing root causes rather than only symptoms,” Tavanya shares.
Drexel Dornsife’s MPH program teaches students analytical tools and practical approaches for identifying and addressing social determinants, policies, organizational structures, and other barriers that prevent optimal health. Coursework extends beyond the classroom walls as students engage in practical experiences at various partner organizations local to Philadelphia and beyond. Through a partnership with the Nurse-Managed Health Center, Tavanya worked with students in an aftercare program at a community recreation center in North Philadelphia.
“My most meaningful experience was not a traditional class — it was the opportunity to engage in community-based work. That experience brought public health to life in a powerful way,” shares Tavanya.
Throughout her successful career, Tavanya has applied these teachings in her different leadership roles at Nemours Children’s Health, Axia Women’s Health, and now managing her own firm. With the ever-changing demands on public health and healthcare leaders, she sees opportunities to improve how organizations are governed, how consistently they execute, and how clearly strategy translates into meaningful community outcomes.
“The systems-oriented mindset continues to shape my work today, where I focus on helping organizations clarify priorities and execute strategies that ultimately improve access, equity, and outcomes for the populations they serve,” says Tavanya.
For anyone considering studying public health at Drexel Dornsife, Tavanya highlights the school’s sense of community and belonging as a key benefit. “There was a shared commitment to impact, equity, and service that created a strong bond among students and faculty. Dornsife felt like a place where you were not just earning a degree — you were joining a community of people committed to improving population health at scale,” she says.
This sense of community was particularly imperative as Tavanya experienced the loss of her father during her first year at Dornsife. Navigating grief while keeping up with academic demands was extremely challenging, but she persevered. She notes that the Dornsife community values “both academic excellence and humanity” which helped her move through this very challenging time. This experience continues to shape the kind of leader she strives to be: “One who leads with both rigor and heart.”
At this point in her career, Tavanya is intentional with her goals to deepen influence, broaden impact, and contribute meaningfully to shaping how organizations deliver on their mission — particularly where population health, equity, and operational excellence intersect.
