Heart Health For All: Breaking Barriers and Bridging Gaps

September 25, 2024

Divya Chanda, an MPH student majoring in Epidemiology at the Dornsife School of Public Health, took over the social media channels for This Is Public Health (TIPH) earlier this month.

TIPH is a student-focused national initiative of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH). Divya, along with Dilawer Siddiqi, an MPH student in Health Management and Policy, were both selected to represent Dornsife as part of TIPH's 2024-2025 Ambassador Cohort.

Divya taught TIPH's audience why heart health matters and how small changes can make a big impact.

"Heart disease can affect anyone, but not everyone has the same chance to fight it," wrote Divya. "While heart disease develops from lifestyle factors, health disparities like access to care and education often get overlooked."

Divya ended the Ambassador Takover with a call to action: "These inequalities leave many communities at greater risk. It’s time we recognize and address to achieve health equity for ALL. Let’s take action together! Because #ThisIsPublicHealth — and it affects us all." ❤️

Prospective students who are interested in the field of public health should explore ASPPH's student journey resources and chat with a Dornsife student ambassador.
