Overview

Official University Policies support the integrity and fulfillment of Drexel University’s mission, values, operations and reputation by setting expectations and clarifying best practices for the University community, managing institutional risk, and promoting compliance with laws and regulations at the local, state and federal level. Drexel is currently undertaking a project to overhaul and streamline the policymaking process to better promote shared governance, standardization, transparency, and diversity, equity and inclusion. This website provides updates on that project, as well as resources and guidance for developing Official University Policies.

IMPORTANT: If you are in the process of revising an existing Policy or developing a new Policy, please refer to the updates below and the steps outlined on the Policy Compliance Process page.

Policy Process Implementation Updates

Updated November 2022

Drexel’s Policy Directory Has a New Look and New Home

The Office of Compliance, Policy and Privacy Services has revamped Drexel’s online Policy Directory for a new and improved user experience that aligns better with the Policy Compliance Process. The directory also has a new home on the Office of Compliance, Policy and Privacy Services' website. The old web address, drexel.edu/policies, takes you to the new directory.

Please note that this redesign represents the first phase in overhauling the Policy Directory. The next phase entails uploading all Official University Policies to the University’s new policy management software, PolicyTech. New links for each policy will be generated and used to populate the directory, and this process will be implemented unit by unit to ensure a smooth transition.

Starting in the new year, the Policy Compliance Process will become more efficient with the implementation of a new electronic review system via PolicyTech. Representatives from each Sponsoring Unit will be invited to attend trainings so they can gain access to the system and begin using it.

And also coming soon in the new year, a Public Comment process where members of the University community are invited to review and comment on pending Official University Policies will be available. A Public Comment Period webpage has been created, and when the first policies are ready for comment, the page will be populated with links to view the policies and provide feedback via Qualtrics.

If you have questions regarding the Policy Compliance Process, please contact the director of policy compliance at policy@drexel.edu.
